Virtual Marketing and Social Media Intern
Author Sidekick is currently seeking a remote intern to learn the ropes and serve the needs of the business and our clients.
US: Author Sidekick is a virtual assistant company addressing the specific needs of authors and writers. We provide administrative support, marketing assistance, web development, social media management, editing and proofreading, book proposal creation, assistance with the query process, and more. Managing a writing career and releasing books is a lot of work. Writers need to write, but we handle the rest. You will report directly to me, the owner and founder of Author Sidekick.
YOU: Ideally, you are a student or recent graduate interested in or studying marketing or business, English, journalism, management, communication, or administration. However, this is not a requirement. If you want to pursue a career in marketing or the publishing industry and believe you would be perfect for this internship, please apply. Don’t let the lack of a degree or recent college experience deter you.
This is a remote, web-based position, and as such, you MUST be computer and web-savvy with reliable internet access and a reasonably up-to-date computer. We’re looking for a creative-thinking, independent self-starter who takes initiative and is eager to dig in and learn by doing.
We’re looking for someone with experience in social media, Hootsuite or Buffer, Microsoft Word, and Excel.
The ideal candidate will also have experience in some of the following: PowerPoint, WordPress, Mailchimp, Photoshop, project and content management tools.
Interest or experience in the publishing industry is a big plus for this position. We work for word people, so attention to detail and writing skills are critical.
THE JOB: Unpaid internship working approximately 5-10 hours per week. We can give college credit, but it is your responsibility to provide curriculum. You will be required to sign an NDA. First you will work on tasks for the company, then tasks for our clients and special projects that come up. Your enthusiasm, willingness to learn, and success will determine how quickly we move up.
